Question 1990 2555 SCR: Trim issues

Lower unit trims down fine but won't trim up. Motor sounds the same weather trimming up or down...just won't send lower unit back up. Voltmeter on dash indicates motor is running while hitting switch to trim up or down. Fluid appears somewhat milky as well.

Where would you start? Applying 12v directly to blue wire to check if it trims up?

Try bypassing the relay on the pump. They go bad. There's one for up, and another for down.

If you are hearing the trim motor run while trying to trim up then bypassing the up solenoid will not help.

You said the fluid is milky which indicates water in the system, this is most likely due to a bad ram that is leaking. Trimming down is easy as gravity helps but trimming up requires things to be correct.

First try changing the fluid to see if that helps and to see if the fluid gets milky again, if it does you need to determine which ram is bad and either rebuild or replace it.
