Default Trolling Motor, Electric vs Gas fo Maxum 1800

I am a new Maxum owners, (2006-1800) and I need to slow it down to 1-km for trolling. Looking into drift socks, and I heard about a flap for the prop? I want to know how hard or easy it is to install a motor onto this boat? I see electric versions burn-out so easily, and need to know from people who are successful with trolling motors on this model. I will use it in a large lake for Sockeye salmon and in the sounds of Washington.

I would consider an electric trolling motor for 'repositioning' than for actual travel. More like how you see them used on a Bass Boat. If you're talking about a canoe or small utility boat, they can work as a primary for travel for limited distances.

If you're talking about actually trolling, such as for Trout or Salmon, I would be looking at a small gas kicker.
