Default total mass

hi all,

I have a 1992 20ft Eddie Bauer edition, with a merc 5.0L v8
I am currently looking to purchase a garage trolley jack. I need it to be able to lift the boat and trailer (altogether) from the stern, now since I do not know their total weight and the stern is obviously the heaviest part, may I ask you guys if a 3ton jack will do the job or should I opt for a 5 tonner?

Thanks
C

first off...welcome to the zoo...if I understand you correctly...you want to move your trailer from the main wheels of the trailer and not the tongue??....well...I'd look at something like this to move it around....not a jack as it can become unstable if your rather high ...

or a pair of these.....I think would be a better option..

Hi Seapuppy

Thanks for your reply.
Well, what I want to do first is lift the trailer (with the boat on) to take off the wheels, get some repairs done and put them back on. Next in line is anti-fouling, so I will be lifting the boat off the trailer and blocking it. Last year I did this by borrowing a trolley jack but I do not remember its capacity.

Cheers
