Default New prop ?

Hello to all , I am new to this forum and a new boat owner, I have a 2001 1900 sr 5 liter , I need to replace my prop ( bent blade) I have no clue which one to get , pitch , 3 or 4 blade etc , I would like to speed up the getting on plane, any thoughts? And what's the " smart tabs " I've read people talking about? Thanks

Welcome aboard

What size is the current prop, number of blades and material?

Adding blades and or going from aluminum to stainless will improve holeshot but decrease top speed.

You can try Quicksilvers on line prop calculator to see what it recommends.

Smart tabs are like trim tabs but cannot be actively adjusted but instead are mounted on spring loaded actuators.

I have an aluminum 4 blade 21p on my sr1900 4.3... its drive is a 1:81 to 1... yours should be a 1:61... and mine gets up and goes loaded down with 6 people and a big ice chest... you having more torque of the v8 and the drive ratio you have I would think a 21p 4 blade aluminum would be good

ATF, brake / power steering fluid?

The seals on the actuators are gone. You don't see it because each time you use them it passes through the seals into the water the boat is floating in. The actuators can be rebuilt or replaced. lines and pump needed to be flushed and bled.
