Default hydrofoils

hello all -

i just purchased a 1998 1900 SR2 and it cam with a hydrofoil attached. looking for opinions, should i leave it or take it off. i am new to boating so thanks for your feedback.

Some say they help a boats performance and others don’t, depends on size and weight. Outdrive manufactures say they invalid the warranty as the drive is not designed to provide lift and this induces stress onto the transom assembly although I have not heard of one failing due to this.

I put one on my 1800, I was a bit sceptical at first, but so far so good. The one bolt, no drilling attachment seems to be working OK. Gets her up on plane with no fuss.
I see it as less expensive alt. to trim tabs, which would probably be better if $ no option.
