Default 2005 Maxum 2000 SR3 Stereo/CD

I am looking to replace the CD Player and have disconnected the connector from the old unit but on checking the voltage at the connector (between red and black) I find it is less than 3VDC. The engine is not running as it's on the trailer but the accessory switch is on. Does the engine need to be running to supply the full 12VDC?

Welcome aboard

No the engine does not need to be running to get power to the radio.

Was the old radio working?

Check the voltage at the radio fuse. Sometimes the fuse holder gets corrioded so try removing the fuse and clean the contacts then reinstall and check voltage again.
