Default 1999 Maxum 1800sr 4.3efi- closed or open cooling system

Just purchased this boat and did a part lookup by serial number. The engine comes back as 834897 99 and details this as a closed cooling engine. Problem is I see no cooler installed and no reservoir for antifreeze. There are 4 hoses from the thermostat housing 2 going to the manifold/block, one going to the water pump and another going to I believe the water intake and going through the fuel cooler along the way. Should I be concerned that my engine was modified or am I missing something? Thanks.

If there is a heat exchanger it's closed cooling. My old 454 didn't have an A/F reservoir. Look for a long black cylinder mounted horizontally. It will have 4 hoses connected to it. Agreed, pics would help.

dumars welcome aboard

From what you described it does not sound like you have closed cooling, however as the others have stated a picture or two will help.
