Default Thoughts while waiting for summer...97 SCR2800

Sooo, I am looking to line up projects to get done prior to the new season. I am extremely excited for this year as I bought the boat last year and spent the entire summer getting used to having it, driving it and so on. I promise to take quality pictures and videos which I will post here and on my youtube channel for anyone that wants to do the same. LOL, my wife gets a kick out of me when I yell at the computer because the person filmed like a 2 year old getting a camera for the first time and, always seems to be in a hurricane…I digress. Here is the short list, (in order of importance to me) feel free to make suggestions they are appreciated.

Electronics
Replacing the dash, gauges and cleaning up any loose or corroded wiring.
I do not like the large speedo and tach and neither work sooo, time to go.. I have experience with working with plastics and 12 volts due to working on cars through my 20’s.

New Horn
Current one seems a bit weak to me

Lighting
Searchlight for bow or radar arch

Underwater aft LED lighting
Adding serious lighting to the engine area
if I smell smoke or hear something abnormal I want that area to light up like time square when I open the hatch…
What I am thinking here is to use a replaceable/rechargeable battery with LED lights that come on when the access panels are opened (I may add a sensor for darkness) strategically placed to cover the entire area, including behind the water and waste tanks to easily see levels.

Projects
Adding a swim platform.
Purchasing through swimplatforms.com.

Creating smart storage
After spending a great deal of time on the boat last summer I feel I could make some quality changes to simply large open areas. I guess we will see..

New flooring inside
I have done this in two homes so far. Although different yes, I am hoping that it is a similar process.

New upholstery for the interior seating area
Not sure how to take out the seats currently. I do not mind doing it and documenting it for others if this has not been done already.

Replace worn out older carpeted side walls.
I currently have no idea what I will come up with but, got some good ideas from the NYC boat show so we will see.

Clean or replace ceiling fabric
If I can clean it with a carpet cleaner vacuum I will, I do not mind the feel or the look as it is. Just needs to be cleaned if possible.

Honorable mentions:
New steering wheel, fishing pole holder/storage - my son likes to stand on the bow and think he is fishing so I will indulge.. (If he catches anything, I will have no idea what to do with it)

I would put project before lighting for being more useful investment.

yeah, not sure what is happening here, this isn't the latest edit. Not in the proper order at all. on a side note, I can't seem to locate a previous post that I was going to add to...I am sure it is me being basically new to forums. Thanks for the response, much appreciated.

FWIW, I took out all of the gauges from the main dash of our 1999 2800 and replaced it all with a single Garmin 942xs. I read rpms/speed/trim tabs/depth off that now (with appropriate N2K network backing it for the data) -- infinitely better than the crappy stock analog gauges.

Also, I installed these lights in the engine bay (the 3-pack):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I put one on the port side right against the fore firewall, one right down the inside of the center support (between the two doors), and then one on the aft side of the starboard door attached to the underside of the seat storage. They're surprisingly bright and lights up almost all of the nooks and crannies of the engine bay. You can set the trigger up however you want, but I just leave it with the dimmer switch that came with it so I manually turn it on/off when I want to use it. I do kinda like the idea of an auto-trigger when the hatch opens, though, so I'll have to think on that.

Just saw one of those at Cabelas last night... very cool.

Do you have any moisture issue? I was thinking I would need to go with something more "marine" or automotive...

Again, looking to my automotive days and using a stainless type trigger. will let you know how it goes.

I only installed them a few weeks ago, so ask me in a year or two.

Auto-trigger may be nice for routine inspection, but if there is an issue and you have any fumes in the ER, these fixtures and any mechanical switch that's not rated for ER/explosion-proof may be an ignition source.

(assuming you're gas not diesel)

The seat backs at the Settee slide UP. The seat bottoms are screwed in (I believe from below).

The fabric headliner should have a padded backing for insulation. If the staining is on the padding underneath, it will be tough to get at if you're shampooing the fabric on the surface. You may end up needing to pull the headliner and the padding and redo it.

Thank you for the very good point, I was simply overdoing it.. I am sure a switch would be best.

I thought I would update anyone who is interested how far I got iwith my "wishlist".

Electronics
Replacing the dash, gauges and cleaning up any loose or corroded wiring.
I do not like the large speedo and tach and neither work sooo, time to go.. I have experience with working with plastics and 12 volts due to working on cars through my 20’s.
Yes, got the Raymarine Axiom 7. Looks and works great! I still need to get the smartcraft wiring done so I can view the engine data.

I also added new speakers and a subwoofer, I personally like MB Quart and Pioneer. (I will add images later when I can upload them)

Projects
Adding a swim platform.
Purchasing through swimplatforms.com.
Yes, costly but, I really think that it came out fantastic.
(2100.00 for the platform total with delivery. 800.00 to have it installed.)
