Default Boat Dog

Meet Lexi. She is a rescue pup. She had Parvo and her previous owner could not afford the treatment and were going to put her down. I took her in and treated her. She is cured now and in good health and a happy home.

She went for her first Lake Powell trip for 6 days and she really enjoyed it!

She really liked to sun herself on the bow and when it turned cold my Girlfriend surprised her (and me) with a "Been there done that" t-shirt. I never realized how cold blooded the Dachshund breed is. She gets the sunning desires from the Chihuahua side. She is a Chiweenie.

She's turning out to be a great dog that loves to travel with us no matter where we go. Her favorite command is 'get in the truck'. Too bad it's getting too hot to take her on the short trips to the store etc.. where she would wait in the truck while I ran errands.

She goes back to the lake next week.

Awww! Reminds me of my boys. Super boat dogs. Their mother was chiweenie, no idea what dad was. They were strays we found on the street.

How are you taking her back to the lake without a boat?

Nice dogs guys.

Philbo all I see is dirt off the bow in that first shot, what's the matter working your way from boating slowly

Anchored up to a steep sandy beach for the night. Makes it safe when the wind kicks up and easy to get on and off the bow to deal with anchors when the water is too cold to go off the stern.

Powell can be a beast when the wind kicks up so you have to be prepared. i secure with 2 stern anchors on the beach and a bow spike.

Attached is the view from the stern.

Weather was less than desirable so we had the lake to ourselves for 6 days even though it was a Memorial Day weekend. Typically you would see dozens of house boats moving up lake in this shot.
