Default Water pump?

Just bought a 2004 sy3500. Hubby and I are on a huge learning curve. Can anyone tell me where the water pump and hot wtr htr are located? We've run out of places to look. Just filled with water, but nothing coming out of the fixtures. :-(

Did you turn on the water pump, red switch at the galley?

The water heater and pump are either in the engine compartment or behind an access panel in the midberth. The water heater requires either shore power/generator or if plumbed the engine running.

You‘ll probably have to let the air out of the system first if it was winterized. Find the heater, as mmwjr suggested, and let it out there. The transom shower should be the first place where water is coming out. Open only one fixture at a time though at first.

Thanks. We'll check for an access panel today.

Yes, we turned on the red switch in the gallery. We had water when we filled via the city dock inlet, but not when we used the starboard inlet.

While connected to city water the onboard pump is bypassed and pressure is from the city water.

Who did you buy this boat from? Didn't they go through all the Op systems with you? I don't say this to stir anything up but there should of been a process that the PO or marina should of followed for your benefit. The 3500 is a big boat and if you do not have any experience with this shame on them for not going through this and explaining it to you. Did you hire a sureyer? Go on a test run ? All these would of educated you to your delight.

Good luck

You 100% right Roger.
Somebody should explain them, the basic. And this is one of them.

Yes, we had the boat surveyed in August. There were multiple issues with some systems not operating as they should, so we didn't take delivery until October and my sense is that these issues took up our, head space. The broker did have a captain who spent 4 hours tutoring us how to run the boat in some of the worst wind and rain imaginable, but we figured it was a good experience in managing the boat in bad weather. Lol! We live in MD which has been experimenting the coldest and wettest spring that I can remember.
We're going to pay to have our surveyor or mechanic run through the systems with us.

I can't blame the broker, surveyor, or cpt. for our lack of knowledge. It's strictly our ignorance. We should have taken pictures and better notes. In fact, I'm about to look at our surveyors notes. He had pictures and he was pretty darn thorough.

Well if it is just plain Ole newbie luck or lack of it so be it....I know I was a pain in the behind with my surveyor with questions questions and questions. You would be surprised how many don't do what you did with hiring a surveyor and getting either the PO or salesman involved.

We are here to help....

We bought our boat in Va Beach. We looked and looked for one that was reasonably priced bc I had my heart set on the Maxum 3500. It's a beautiful boat. Too bad it took from August to December to take delivery. Can't wait to get her sorted out so that we can have some fun.

Holy cow, it is a small world! We're on D dock- under cover. I had some skin cancer issues this summer, so I wanted to be under cover to limit my sun exposure. I'll have to stop by next time we're up there.

If you're really having a difficult time locating the pressure water pump, then you can also go about methodically (albeit a bit laborious). However, its a good excerecise, you need to know where your systems are and how they work.

1) Locate deckplate for the water fill.
2) Follow the fill hose from the water deckplate to the water tank.
3) Locate the water outlet on the water tank. It will either be on the bottom, or on the sides at the bottom of the tank.
4) Follow the water outlet to the pressure pump.

Make sure there are no shutoffs and that the pump prefilter isn't clogged.
Make sure you're getting 12v to the pump (I assume the battery switch is on)

To find the water heater, follow the water outlet line from the pump. The cold line will go to each cold faucet and the hotwater tank inlet. The hot water tank outlet then goes to each hot faucet.

Thanks, Shrew. I agree laborious, but definitely worth it. We'll give it a try later this week. I'll keep y'all posted.

Thanks for your support. This is a great forum!
