Default Water in fuel. Removal????

So I do in fact have some "bad gas". Not me, my boat. The engine knocks like mad when pushed over 3000 rpms but settles out a bit if I raise rpms slowly. The mechanic is going to change the plugs and cap and rotor while it is in the shop getting a new remote.

Is there anything I can do to the fuel to help get rid of the crap fuel without draining it all? I am hoping the new plugs and rotor/cap will have an impact on the knocking as the mechanic said it appeard that the cap and rotor were in need of replacement.

If I choos not to remove the fuel and replace, will I hurt the engine??

Thanks!

id the gas is indeed bad...go to west marine or some other marine store and get some gas treatment..they have it strong enough to treat 250 gals of gas.....pour it in...I think it 's called heet...anyway...ask the clerk ..they should know...pour the recommended amount in..that will take care of any water in the tank...replace the fuel filters....and finally..if your detonating and water is the cause...yes..you will damage your engine.....
so...a tune up may help but also have the mech. check the timing also....

THX! I got some treatment and put it in when I picked up the boat at the shop. Had the plugs, wires, cap replaced and tuned. After getting through the Montlake cut and into Lake WA I opened up full throttle and no knocking. The mechanic said after he replaced everything and ran it up he said he still could detect some knocking at high rpms but I couldnt notice any when running wide open so maybe the treatment worked. Thanks for the advice, as always.

I would go easy on it until you run it out and then go for it on new gas
