Default Waste Tank meter

Anyone ever try using an 'external to tank' reading system like the Tech-Edge iSeries?
https://tankedge.com/products.html

Floats have never worked on my 'new to me' and tank always read full (single red LED) even after a pump out where I've seen significant brown wrinkle neck trout swimming down stream.

Not at my marina, but one just a bit down the road (Eau Gallie River in Melbourne FL) 15 boaters were cited for raw sewage discharge.

Most were live aboards, a few transients. Grouper Troopers put dye tablets in everyone's toilets and flushed .... now that's a reason not to go in the water

Will do.

I'm still need to do some research like power requirements and a place to mount the display unit.

The current float switch is right under the aft cabin's bunk and luckily a previous owner drilled a hole through the flooring that's accessible once a drawer is removed. Not easy to get to, but doable.

I'm thinking of just pulling the power off of there, and then using the same existing wires that lead back to the single LED to go to the new tank indication. Then simply swap out the panel the LED is on (it's in the battery switch access). This would probably be the most aesthetically pleasing, and keeps the 'read out' right where it is already.

A seeming easier option will be to simply tap off some other 12V source near the back side of the tank (easily accessible) and just mount the display right on the aft bulkhead of the aft cabin, or even in the hanging locker that flush with the aft bulkhead.

Need to do some measuring and check some voltages next time I'm back in the Sunshine State and I can get on the boat.
