Default Holding tank

If you are over 10 miles out are you allowed to release holding tank contents in Lake Erie?

Abolutely not!!! There is a very very heavy fine for doing so, plus it's just dumb to even consider dumping a holding tank in any of the great lakes.

You also had better make sure if you have the ability to pump overboard that it is securely locked so it cannot be used. That's another heavy fine if it's not locked.

I think all of the maxums have the ability to pump overboard. Most are secured by the fact that you have to hold down 2 switches to engage the pumping. Has anyone ever had a law enforcement issue with this?

My '90 2755 SCR is pump out only. None of my 5 sailboats owned in the past had the ability to pump overboard either.

I know the coast guard and power squadron will check to ensure you are locked up and labeled when they stop you for an inspection everywhere on the great lakes.

While my 1997 2400 has the switches the pump was not installed by the factory and the paperwork list it as an option.

Mike,
I have the same boat as you only a 1995 and the pump was installed as part of the cruise package!
I have the original sales brochure for all 95 SCR's!
Just wanted to let everyone know that some (the 95 models) had the pump installed at the factory!
Have a good evening all!
Don

No dumping on inland lakes and Rivers. 3 miles out on the ocean, unless indicated otherwise. (for example no dumping in Block Island Sound (RI) or Long Island Sound (NY & CT), even if 3 miles out).
