Default Exhaust Bellows

Not a new member but had to re-register. Been following the posts on exhaust bellows and BAM! mine came off!
2005 Alpha in a 2400SE. I got a new one and put it on the transom side for a few days to get the shape. Then turned it around and installed it on the outdrive, with adhesive, and tightened the clamp just enough to get the shape. I then worked the other end, with adhesive, onto the transom side and lowered the drive to hold it in place. The next day I tightened the clamps and raised the drive. All was well for about 24 hrs and then it slid off the engine side again. So I went thru the whole process again but waited 48 hrs before raising the drive, only slightly, and it came off again! What am I missing? I let the adhesive dry before tightening the clamps and then stop when it appears to be slideing the bellows. Am I tightening to much or not enough, or do I maybe have the wrong bellows? I got it from the dealer that looks up my VIN # and gets the part it calls for. :?

Seapuppy, you had to replace bellows already? Your boat is brand new, isn't it?

I am running on the original bellows. As far as I can tell, they look to be in good condition. The mechanic has checked them and hasn't said anything about them needing to be changed. Am I on borrowed time?

well..mine wasn't installed properly and they leaked....caused the gimbal bearings to go from rust.....so..yeah...they went and no I don't think your on borrowed time......if they are in good shape....then they should be good for about 5-6 yrs.....

b3 drives are good if not kept in salt water all the time..then according to my mech...he hasn't had to replace them if they are installed properly....
