Close cabin or leave open?

For those who cover their boats during the winter and have some air vents in the boat cover, do you
a) close your cabin doors, hatches, etc and use products like damp-rid, or
b) open your cabin and allow the cabin to breath, or
c) something else?

Just wondering what people's experiences are. I'm on the Northeast (Long Island, NY), so climate plays a role.

i know the area, but the foggy days are damper then leaving the cabin closed up with a damp-x inside, as my dampx last all winter.

once the moisture is out the cabin its fine inside.

I do just open it up to check on warmer winter days and have a small electrical space heater with a fan, that i can run for a few hours.

I am a little south from you and keep the cabin closed with damp-x and have not had any issues in the 6 years having this boat.

Sticky pads for the little creatures protection and Bounce sheets inside the boat. Shrink wrap has six vents and never had a problem.

Cabin door and windows all closed.

I just left my boat with damp rids inside and I cracked the cabin door. It is quite dry all winter on Long Island

I've always locked the cabin door, using damp rids with shrink wrap or a tarp with no problem....

was in home depot today, and they are selling these GE info pods, that transmit the temp, and humidity to your cell phone app.

you could tell whats going on in your boat without climbing up and into it.

not sure if I'd need one....

I vent the shrink wrap. then i crack the cabin door and all the hatches. The point is to let air move, not condensate. I use copius amounts of damp rid and never have a problem. I'm in New England.

Thanks all. I went with the damp-rid products and closed hatches and doors. I'll check it in a few weeks and see how much water gets collected in the damp-rid bags (I got the hanging ones).
