Default rusty exhaust, 2001 1800SR

Hi again,
The rust is obvious, but it's kind of a mystery to me as to why it is where it is.
It looks like a joint, but there is no water leaking, now, so maybe the rust has sealed it up?
I hope maybe the location of it tells you something that I don't yet understand.
If there's any other details you'd need to come to a conclusion, please let me know.
The boat is at my brother's house, about a half hour drive from me, but I try to get down there at least once a week. In case more pictures are needed.
Thanks!
Mike

The rust at the interface between the manifold and riser is a sure sign the gasket is leaking and if its leaking out its also leaking into the exhaust passage which will allow water to get into the engine through the exhaust valve.

The higher up rust could just be the paint pealing or a higher up leak due to an internal crack of the riser.

Replace them now.

Thanks, Mike. I was afraid of that...but in denial.
I'll check around and see where I can get the best quality parts (primary) at the best price (secondary).
Am I looking forward to a lot of fun removing some of those bolts?

The bolts do not look that bad, hit them with some BP Blaster and if you can warm up the engine or apply some heat to the receiving threaded areas. I have dealt with a lot worse looking without much issue.
