Default Quicksilver Restoration

Once I found that the reason my 5.0 QS generator wouldn't start was because that $80 circuit breaker on the front panel was bad (runs now with a new $5 breaker), it was time to tackle the exhaust.
For those who have these, they know it's common for the exhaust to rot out, as its cast iron with salt water sitting in it. If you've encountered this problem, you know a new exhaust piece is now over $600. Mine was beyond repair, and the threads in the heat exchanger end cap were also gone, so I would have had to replace that too for over $600 to put it back to factory.
Instead, I came up with an idea and fabbed my own exhaust, water jacket and all. Just missing the over heat sensor...

Might be able to get it on to test Monday or Tuesday... I took the heat exchanger tubes out too to clean everything and replace all the gaskets.

I don't have a genny but find this interesting. Is that barbed fitting to inject the cooling water and does it mix into the exhaust at the other end.

That's where the raw water goes into the exhaust after the heat exchanger. Here are the pipes before I welded them. Oh, and all stainless!

Just got it all back together and ran it a bit. Seems to be a success so far!
