Hi Mike!
No it is on the distributer, It dose not have the triangle bracket on it!
I got this info from Mercury Marine so I guess it is correct!

Don I'll do some reading when I have time but my memory tells me otherwise, but then again my memory is not what it used to be.

Can you post a picture? Also the TBV will have two modules on the distributor one being for the ignition and the other is the knock module.

A quick search does revel that the last revision of TBIV was a distributor mounted module but I cannot determine what year the TBV came out. But as I said the TBV has the knock module.

Hi Mike!
I have the 1995 Mercruiser owners manual and it states that to set the timing
" A special procedure must be followed for adjusting idle RPM and to adjust the timing".
But it does not specify which system!
I have looked at mine and it has the module on the distributer, w/o knock module! (Very tight as distributer sets under the aft deck!)
It does not say when the TB5 came out, but I have to believe the Merc folks!
Anyway I will treat it as a TB4!
Thanks
Don

Hi Don, no special procedure really other than carb should be adjusted first at idle then set the timing. Good luck.
