Default Engine Water Incursion

Just had my 4100 SCA delivered to Table Rock Lake today and the transport company said it would not start and made a terrible sound. They found water on top of the pistons but the boat had not been in the water in three weeks getting new bottom paint, complete service and tune up with compression tests and plugs. They said there must have been some water in the exhaust make its way into the cylinders during transport on the steep hills of the Ozark Mountains. Had to change the oil and blow out the cylinders and it seems OK. Anyone heard of this phenomenon before? Twin 454 Mercruisers.

Cannot say I have heard of this during transport however water intrusion does happen and it's typically a sign of the exhaust system failing.

With that said does the boat have wet mufflers? If so water will remain in them so I guess it's possible. When an engine stops a exhaust valve on one cylinder will be open so water can enter. How many cylinders had water in them and on which bank (side of the engine), also did thus happen to both engines?

How old is the exhaust system and is it a fresh water or salt water boat?

I am checking on that but am out of state. Sounds like both engines but unknown number of cylinders involved. Will see for myself over the weekend.

Thanks, She is "Sir Docs a Lot". On board is a sign which reads "Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a boat. And that is pretty much the same thing!"
