Default Engine Noise

Hi all,
Last year when I took my boat to river and the boat hit some rock. And the propeller had damaged. Now it is summer and I am ready for boating. I read on the top of the engine was label Engine Left rotation (LH), and I replacing with new RH propeller. I Took the boat out to river, start the engine and engine started fine. The boat however ran revert when I put gear forward and the engine had slight grinding noise. I don't know that the engine had damaged or the the drive had damaged.
I would appriciated anyone tell me what was went wrong.
Thanks
Paul Vu

This does not make sense.

OPP!
I did put the RH propeller but have not take the boat out to river yet on that time. And the time for checking up the boat to get ready for fun and I see on the top of engine label LH rotating. Then I brought new LH propeller and replacing with the RH propeller. I thought it will be O.K and I took the boat out then it seem like to be reverted cause I shift the gear forward and the boat actual reverting.

LH engine requires a LH prop.

Otherwise forward will be reverse and vise versa.

Is there and signs of damage to the outdrive from hitting the rocks? Check the gear lube level and drain some to look for signs of water in it.
