Default Did I damage my engine

Hello Members,

The other day I had potential buyers come and see my 1992 1800sr with the 3.0L engine. They wanted me to start her up so I turned on my muffs, climbed in, and started her up. After I did, I asked if the muffs were on or not and the buyer bent over messed around and said they werent. I promptly turned her off. I basically ran her without any water for about 40 seconds tops. Did I do damage? The start was from cold. Thoughts?

Worst case is you need to replace the raw water pump impeller.

You didn't damage the engine, but there's a really good chance you might have taken some life off the impeller. ... Did you get the muffs back on it and start it up? If so did it pump water?

That is not enough time to over-heat the engine. The impeller may have taken a beating.

Like said, I'd replace the impeller and you should be fine.
