Default Crankshaft pulley

I was wondering how to fix my crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer. I have both parts but the harmonic balancer just spins around the pulley. So I'm wondering how to attachvthe harmonic balancer to the pulley

You can't. It is broken and needs to be replaced.

Yes, and its position on the pulley is critical, as it is how the engine is timed.

I understand but what's not making sense is I've looked up both parts online and they are sold separately so it make me think there is a seal that goes in between them

I may have misspoke there. What I was thinking was that the harmonic balancer is pressed over an inner hub with a seal. If that fails and it spins, the balancer is shot. The pulley is on the crank in front of the balancer.

Do an internet search on spun harmonic balancer.

Maybe I am not understanding.
The harmonic balancer is 3 parts. A hub, an outer ring, and a rubber piece between them. These pieces are manufactured together.

The pulley bolts on to the hub and drives the belt(s).

If the balancer is is not assembled and 1 piece, it is broken and needs replaced.

The pulley should attach with bolts and that should be obvious.

Am I missing something?

No that sounds right but when I look up the parts it shows the pulley separate from the balancer so I thought it was weird like I mite be able to by a new seal and have it pressed on......thanks again

You have not said what engine you have but the balancer goes onto the crankshaft. There is a seal in the timing chain cover that has a lip that seals against the balancer. The pulley bolts to the center part of the balancer.

The inner and outer parts of the balancer are bonded together with rubber. Sounds like you are saying the rubber failed.

Yes I'm saying the rubber failed I think, that's what I'm wondering if I can get a new rubber to put on or do I need to but a new part

You need the entire damper as the rubber is molded with the metal piece as one.
