Default Compression range

Hi Owners,
What are acceptable compression readings for a 2002 5.0 220 hp mercruiser?

I'm doing a water test tomorrow and should have the compression test readings at that time, but not sure what is good and what is walk away.
Thanks everyone,
H

150 lbs is a good healthy engine and they should all be within 10% of each other. Less than 125 lbs is a sign of to weak and could be a bad valve, piston rings, or head gasket failing.

Default Compression and water test

Thanks again, Mike.
Compression came in really strong and the boat performed better than expected.
It's a big step up to 23' from the 1800 SR that I had. Not as quick from idle to plane and top end, but more than enough. Top end same as the 1800. The ride is so much different, but each is what it should be for its size.
Its a 2002 with only 238 hrs on the engine.
Here's the challenge, it's not a Maxum. Couldn't find a 22-23' Maxum in the area that was fresh water in my price range.
Its been a treat to be part of this owners club.
Happy, safe and fun boating to all!

All boaters and boat manufactures are welcome here. Can help with merc but not really knowledgable on Volvo or old OMC.

Glad she checked out.

Oh yea what is she?

I have owned Sea Rays in the past. I belong to other sites and no one tells you to get lost just because you have a different manufacture boat.
