Default can prop pitch be measured?

I recently had my normal prop out for repair but the numbers were hard to read. It read J14.5 but could not read the pitch-looked like either 13, 18 or 19. I compared it to my spare prop 16x16P and the pitch looks the same or very close. I lined up paint stir sticks on both props and they both looked like about 45 degrees. Is there a way to accurately find the pitch of my normal prop?

1991 Maxum 2300 SCR 4.3L I'm told the stern drive is a Gen 2.

ran 1 trip with the 16x16; seemed to evacuate much more water. Didn't notice much other difference but new boater here.

yes..take it to your local prop shop and they can measure it for you...you can't do it without a gauge...

Most have it stamped on the outside of the prop. Obviously yours doesn't, though I thought I'd it out incase you hadn't looked yet.

Update: for shrew, it was written on the inside but just could not read the pitch. Talked to the prop shop that did the repair and its evidently a 19. Haven't actually seen it yet.

As previously stated, the damaged 14.5X19P is my normal prop and the 16x16P was the spare thats now on the boat but will soon be changed back to my normal, now repaired prop.

Ouch - that 14.5 looks to have taken a beating. They can fix that?

yes they can and my marina indicated that the prop shop could repair worse. When I see it [marina 1.5 hrs away] I'll pass on my impressions. mike

OK now have the repaired prop in my hands; looks brand new. Haven't actually seen the bill yet but think it was $145. That includes pick up and return delivery to my marina so maybe they take a cut too. Prop part number is 48-832830A45 (which is a well know part number) but prop shop calls it a 48-832830R45. Perhaps the "R" indicates repair. The pitch is now easily seen, 19P. Prop also has 2 numbers stamped into it, G 17891 and G 21711; I think these are prop shop codes.
