Default 2300sc prop size

Hello All,
I'm new and happy ovner of 1998 2300SC with 5.0 220HP Mercrusier.
I run over some rocks the other day and ruin my prop .
Before I buy a new one I would like to know what prop size should I get for optimal performance. Can't read P/N from the old one. I don't know what dimeter and pitch is recomended for this type of boat and engine.
Any advice wil be greatly appriciated.
Thank You

well...depending which prop you started with..I think that boat came with a 15x21x3 prop....your dealer would be a good source to use....talk to the parts dept..they have your boat and all of it's parts located on computer...
get to know this web site...there is an online catalog that has all the parts you may need to replace....everything.....

hope this helps.....
hopefully someone with that same model will chime in..

I have same vessel, just a couple years earlier (95) but are same hull and engine.

I run the OEM prop, part# 48-78116-c1-15

This is actually a 15 1/2" x 15 pitch (travels 15" in one revolution)

This is the recommended prop for your boats max rpm's.

A good link to props is http://www.go2marine.com/go2_structure/ ... ersd.shtml

Lots of cross reference and technical info there.

A stainless would perform better. I have a good friend that owns a prop shop and plan to borrow some various models (3/4 blade) for demo. I'll let you know what I find that works.

My next big money dump is for trim tabs. Better than a prop change for performance boost.
