Default 2007 Maxum 1900 sr3 4.3 MPI

i just bought this boat this year and i am very disappointed with its pulling power. i love to ski and it is a struggle to get up with one ski and two people in the boat. nearly impossible with a double boot. engine has no errors and i currently have a 14.5x16P Prop on it ... 4 blade!!! i have gone down from 19 even inch to the 16 and i am still thinking something is wrong.

any ideas?

Hi,
I have an 1800sr3 with the 3.0 engine. I changed my 21P prop to a 19P and that made my boat run like a dream and pulls well etc. I think your prop is way too small for the 1900SR3 with a 4.3. I would start by changing to a 21P three blade prop and see what difference that makes. With a 16P prop I imaging the engine is over-revving and not getting any decent grip. At WOT make sure you are getting the RPM's in the correct range for that engine.
I hope that helps - Let us know how you get on.
Cheers,
Lee

Brian has a 2008 1900 sr3 with the 4.3 and he says the stock prop was a 23P. Maybe worth going straight to that. If the stock one is a 23 then a 16 is definitely too small.

See here for more info....
