Default 1997 Maxum 3000 scr Prop selection. Help!!

Hi. We have a 1997 3000 scr with twin 4.3's alpha one gen 2s. Currently it has 3 blade 19p props installed and they need to be replaced. I was wondering if there is anyone out there with the same power package running 4 blades the could fill me in one the performance and cruise speeds they are getting. I am more concerned with cruise economy because we do a lot of long distance cruising. Thanks in advance!!

Welcome aboard

Are the current props achieving proper WOT?
I recommend you see what Quicksilvers prop calculator recommends.

Increasing cruise 'economy' typically requires either increasing pitch or number of blades in order to reduce RPM's at a relative cruise speed. However, this lowers max RPM and also tends to overload the engine.

Overloading the engine shortens the lifespan of the engine over time. You can potentially spend many thousands in an effort to save hundreds.

To be honest I haven't ran it wide open. I do know that it will cruise around 22-24 mph at about 3600-3700 rpm. I'm not to worried about fuel economy I'm just racing around the lake WOT.

I suspect you are proped correctly now. A 4 blade can improve time to plane but you’ll need to decrease pitch.
