Default Transducer Wiring Help

So we bought a boat with a GPS but no transducer. We bought a in hull transducer and have no problem running the wires ourselves but we have no idea where to run them because I cant find any holes that run from the hull to the console? Anyone have suggestions or instructions they can provide? I have googled for hours but cant find anything. I am sure it has to be easier then it appears to be but after searching for hours I cannot figure it out, hoping not to pay someone to do it.

follow the helm steering cable up the side of the boat.

uses a electricians wire puller, and run a drag line. $30 at home depot.

When I installed the transducer cable in the 97' 2400 SCR I remove the instrument cluster and the starboard speaker. Then drilled a hole in the engine compartment bulkhead above where the toilet waste line penetrates. Then I used and electricians fish tape to pull the cable up to the speaker hole and then from the speaker to the helm. Don't forget to seal the bulkhead with 4200 so fumes can't penetrate.

After I installed it I realized there is a removable panel in the mid-berth just above the headboard (starboard side) this may allow better access.

Hey Guys...........What kind of GPS is this? Is the antenna for the GPS is either an external or internal? He hasn't mention a depth finder!

Internal means there is an antenna all ready built in your unit and external an antenna gets mounted on top somewhere............ This doesn't make any sense?

You don't need a transducer on the end of your boat for just a GPS...... you might need an antenna on top of your boat.........

now is this a GPS/depthfinder combo unit?

but you have not said that!

What is the make and model of this GPS?

Huh, I would have guessed that the 2003 2400 SCR would have a factory installed transducer/depth finder.

Regardless, as Mike and Pas mention above you'll just need to get a little creative. Follow the steering cables, remove some bits to create access holes, etc. I had to do the same thing when I installed trim tabs on my 2004 2400 SC3.

You're in Manassass - where do you boat? We run our tub on the Potomac.

Roger, since he mentioned transducer I assumed he means transducer as he stated mounting it to the transom. BTY you are correct the GPS antenna is either internal or external. Maybe he'll clarify:-)

Not to beat a dead horse here............but yeah these are completely TWO different things that everyone is assuming. What is the transducer for? Do you have a depthfinder? Ok if so the wiring is pretty cut and dry, follow the easiest path to the helm duh! Why was the GPS mentioned........Lets all pull a rabbit out of the hat here with some of these questions.

We are here to help and help we shall but can we until be clear in our questions?

IMHO

Mike ............Thanks for the concern but I knew my last response might be in the whacko column but believe me its not:-) Could care less one way or another....boat ride would be nice, but not for this reason. Don't mean to hijack this thread but I have seen this too often where answering the real question has been a struggle ........oh well life goes on and we can only do our best.

the transducer is the "fish finder" it has a depth finder but we wanted the one that goes with the GPS, not that there are any fish in the Potomac (cause we have not found any).
Boat is in Woodbridge at the Pilot house.
And we gave up trying to figure it out, having people do it for us Some times it pays to buy a little sanity and free time!!
Thanks Everyone!

Sounds like a plan, B, (get it? plan b? LOL).

There are fish in in the Potomac, just need to know where to find them. Not that I have any idea of course.

We're at Pilot House also. Nice facility. We were out yesterday in fact, with some family from out of town. The Potomac was as flat as I've ever seen/experienced it, and there was almost NO boat traffic at all. We were able to do a couple of hours of tubing about 300 yards out from Tims II. Got back to PH and on the trailer right before the rain started in the evening.
