Default Transducer location for 3000SCR

I am having a problem with my depth finder. It operates only now and then. Does anyone know where the transducer is.

SP,
I had a look last night and can't seem to locate anything that would help me. There doesn't seem to be anything in the bottom of the hull that jumps out at me, especially since I'm not sure what I'm looking for. There are two leads going to the transom centerline, they are attached to the transom up a couple of inches from the bottom.

ok...it's a black puck with one wire coming out of it...(actually there is a couple of wires but it's wrapped in a cover so it looks like one wire)...hemmingways...it's got to be back there in the engine bay..or the other place is in the fwd bilge area of the salon...right where the stairs goes down...under there somewhere should be an access area ..might be in there...

Found it,
I must be losing my eye site, it is located in the bilge, centerline, aft of the fwd bulkhead of the engine space. Now I have to figure out what the issue is

ok...now that you found it....take the dash apart and check all connections to the display...take them apart and clean them...then use teflon grease to keep the connections clean...put them back together...should work...

Took the helm panel off. I disconnected the (what looks like) coaxial cable attached to the display. I cleaned it, however, when I put it back together it only makes contact at certain spots to power up. I will change the connector. On this subject, the original fit for the depth sounder is a model D40BD by Standard Horizon. i went onto their web site and had a look for the owners manual for this model. Go figure, everything but that one. I used one that was close in order to set up the hull offset, shallow and deep warnings and units of measure. What I get, when I make contact on the coaxial connecter, is a depth reading of 2.6 ft. At my berth I have over 40 ft. The manual said that it was an adjustment to the transducer that had to be made through the combination power and alarm switches. I tried using the manuals method but it doesn't work. does anyone have an owners manual for that model so that I can see if I can finish this job, or if I will need to get a new one next season. Thanks

Default manual depth finder sounder

Anyone ever locate a manual or have any troubleshooting tips mine reads '--' occaisionally as well in 20' of water? I believe mine too is a Horizon D40BD...Square LED digital display about an inch and half.

I'll check the transducer tomorrow mine is a 2300SC anyone ever have to replace it?

if your talking about the digital depth guage that comes with the boat....it's notoriously wrong...what happens when it reads --- is that the moving boat runs over a thermal clime or maybe some bubbles under the hull and the transducer looses it's return signal......the digital depth guage is extremely weak and isn't really a good unit...that's why most of us get an after market fishfinder or depth guage and turn the other one off....at least one with a couple hundred watts will usually penetrate thermal climes and currents....

I'm pretty sure you won't find anything wrong with the transducer....

Hi I have the same on my 3000csr 1998 and no display. The previous owner had fitted a hummingbird fish finder with the external transducer I guess the original depth finder don’t work. So I love a copy of the manual also

This is my first boat and first season with it, up to today the depth sounder has been dead on from 1-100'+ haven't been any deeper. It even saved me one night coming into a an unfamilure cove, luckily it was just a sand bar. So I use it often...
