Why would my Refrigerator on my 1997 3000scr only work with the generator?

Hi Dan Mace, Welcome Aboard!!!!

If this is the stock Norcold fridge, then it should be a dual-voltage. The switch inside should turn the fridge completely on or off, regardless of whether it has AC or DC. The breaker for 'Fridge' in the breaker panel is only for AC (120V). This would allow it to work on the shore power or generator. The AC/DC switch on the fridge is internal. It will default to AC if both are present and switch to DC (12V) if that is the only current available.

There are a couple of obviously simple things to confirm:

1) The internal switch on the fridge isn't being turned off when you go to DC (12v)

2) The battery switch is ON.

If you've ruled out these, then it could quite possibly be the 12V fuse for the switch on the fuse panel, or the fuse on the fridge itself. You'd need to remove the fridge to get at it. While it's out, use a volt meter to confirm you're getting 12vdc to the fridge at all. This would tell you if it is up stream or downstream.

Just a few thoughts.

Let us know how it works out.
