Default Invertor powered space heater question

How long could I expect my house battery to last if I were to run my West Marine Portable Cabin Heater using one of those plug in inverters?
Heater: http://www.westmarine.com/1/1/25529-...in-heater.html
Inverter: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=11284

My house battery is a Rolls Deep Cycle 12HHG 185PM 800CCA

We would like to do some winter cruising so I would like to be able to power up the space heater while anchored, but am unsure how long to expect my house battery to last if I run it using the setting: 900W (3120Btu).

not long at all....instead of anchoring..I'd look at 1 of 2 things....install a webasto diesel heater or tie up to a dock someplace and use your shore power......

and at 900 watts ...that isn't going to put out alot of heat....the other item to look at is a heater buddy...for about a 100 bucks...it will heat up your boat in no time....just remember to keep the hatch slightly open.....

I'd like to get a Heater BUddy, but with two kiddos under the age of 3, that seems like an emergency room visit waiting to happen. When you say "not long", 3-4 hours???
Thanks Steve-o

if that.......it's going to suck alot of amp hrs to fire it up and keep it going...so...something to think about though with the heater buddy..it's protected...it has tip over protection..grill infront of the element....and an O2 sensor...if it gets too low..it shuts down...so no chance of asphixiation.....

if it were me..I'd look at either the webasto or the heaterbuddy....just means with the later your going to have to be more vigilant with the kids....

I understand safety and kids....but in the winter out here...it can get seriously cold at nite...as you well know....so...I would think of the dock option or webasto....if you decide to try the converter/batt option...it isn't going to produce much heat...less than a hair dryer...and your going to have to run a house batt...then switch to start to fire the engine up...recharge the batts...then do it again and again....kind of a pia.....

we were using the MH9BX model at poulsbo at the outing we had last time...it was really heating the whole cockpit up nicely.....I'd get that one and stick it on the stove to keep prying fingers out....

believe me ..this thing will keep your 2400scr nice and toasty warm.....
and you can get one at harbor marine for 99 bucks right now...

You might want to look into an Espar heater. We installed one in a van for keeping the contents from freezing in the winter. They are also sold for the inside semi sleepers. They have diesel and gas models. Most heavy duty truck dealers are dealers for them (ie: International, Freightliner, Kenworth etc.)

Here is the link http://www.espar.com/html/products/airheaters.html

The unit needs a 1/4" fuel tap, and a 3/4" exaust pipe to the outside. We bought the unit for around 2,000 with a 7 day digital timer. You could actually set it for upto a 7 day schedule. The heater was 1,600 the install kit was around 150, and 350 for the digital timer.
