Default GARMIN GPS UNITS screen lockup

Purchased a Garmin 740 S touch screen GPS this past season . Unit itself is great except for one problem . Screen / grafics lockup or freeze . has anyone had this problem ? Unit is getting a constant 12V and has the latested software upgrades . Thanks ...

well...that one has me...

if the electrical connection is ok....then make sure the antenna connection is good...and that the antenna see's the satellites ...has a clear view of the sky and as many sat's as it can....other than that...the unit maybe defective...

I dont have a touch screen, but the 545s. I had some issues with the guide to function not working and was told to go th garmins site and download a software update. I am not sure if this will work or not for you, but worth a shot. You need an sd card and a reader to do this. Also, on the garmin site, you must "prep the card", whatever this means, before you download the software update. I think all this does is make your card accept an exe file that will automatically run when you put it in the unit.
