Fuses...Help! - Maxum Boat Owners Club

I recently purchased a '98 Maxum 2600 and a doing the finishing touches. I went to start the engine and was it was turning over then suddenly nothing at all. I believe it is a fuse somewhere due to nothing on the panel works now but wanted to know where are all the fuses located for this boat? Any help would be appreciated!

welcome to the zoo...are you saying that everything is dead...dash..engine...starter won't turn over??..

if that's the case...then your main fusable link at the starter is probably blown...it's a 10 dollar part but there is also a short to cause it someplace....find that short before you replace the fusable link at the starter....or it could be corrosion too...gotta find the problem...more details would really really help..

right, nothing works...dash, engine, all of it. It did for a little while then all of the sudden, nothing! Thanks for the input...will let you know the outcome!

well.then it sounds like either the main breaker on the top of the engine...the big red button...or the fusable link at the starter....

that's the only thing...other than the batt. switch....also check the batt' connections...
where are you located at..maybe someone is close and willing to stop by to help.....

It could also be loose or badly corroded battery connections

I cannot find the red button on the engine, might it look like something else or is it just hard to locate?

Okay, found the bracket where the red button once was but is no more! Any suggestions?

no reset button??...um.....something's wrong.....look at the pos. lug of the starter...is there a big huge white plastic block??...that's the fusable link...

Well, no white plastic box and definately no red button! I'm stumped! I bought the boat from my brother in law whom bought the boat new and he has never messed with any of that to be able to remove the reset. I hate to take it to a mechanic but may end up having to...I know it has to be something simple.

I had a similar situation. The engine would crank and actually fire-up but then die out immediately. If that your issue, try checking to see if the "kill switch" on the helm is fully in contact. Mine was slightly out and caused this problem. Once full conact was made, the engine started and ran fine.
