Default Exposed Wiring on Battery Cable

Notice the copper wires on the cables between the connector and the insulated sheathing. I assume this is a problem?

A few issues here.

1. wire is copper, this is not marine as marine is tin plated to resist corrosion.
2. heat shrink can be used to cover exposed wire strands.
3. positive connections should be covered by a boot or the entire battery should be in an enclosed battery box to prevent loose items from shorting the positive terminal to ground.

Find a shop that makes custom lengths of either black or red cable wire and replace them . I hope you took off post covers for all your batteries post positive and negative or you have battery boxes for the picture. This is a Coast Guard requirement.

Good luck

Ok so the exposed strands are covered with in the box so that does not bother me as much. To me the big issue is none marine copper wire will eventually corrored due to salt air exposure.
