Default Car Amp?

I have a car amp out of my old car, a clarion APX400.4 (400W x 4Ch), and was curious if anyone had tried running a car amp in a boat, freshwater boat. I would assume if installed in a fairly dry place it should work ok. Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions if I were to try it? I am thinking about running my two kicker components off 2 channels and maybe bridge the other two down to a sub.

So long as its a dry place I'd not be too concerned.....We have many customers that do this, but be aware that corrosion will be the biggest factor to contend with - keep it dry and keep a coat of protectant like GT85 on it.

Many manufacturers out there still fit car kit, such as Nautiques by Correct Craft.

Cool, thanks! Any ideas on making an enclosure for speakers? I have a couple subs that were in my car, was thinking about taking one and putting it in my boat maybe. However, finding boat speaker enclosures isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. I've seen some stuff on making it from fiberclass or starboard. What about making it from MDF, like a normaly speaker box, and then sealing it with some sort of epoxy? I think I would, or could, probably remove the speaker when its not in use, so maybe I dont have to do much other build a box and maybe carpet it?

MDF acts like a sponge. I had one that didn't last long. I would try exterior/marine plywood. Not as dense as MDF but would last.
