Default bilge or transom mount transducer

I am installing a new fishfinder. What is the best location for the xducer, in the bilge or mounted on the transom. I have twin sterndrives, would locating the transducer on the transom between the drive cause a problem with proper readings. Is the hull solid fiberglass or is it wood cored

basically there are 3 types of xducers....transom mount...thru hull...and shoot thru hull...the shoot thru hull xdcr doesn't give temp or speed readings...the others will...between the drives shouldn't cause a problem........the transom of that yr might be wood core...but it's easy to seal...make sure you use 4200 silicone sealant to fill the screw holes up .....that's about all you really need to do...personally I like the shoot thru xdcr only cuz you don't have to worry about holes in the people tank....

Thanks SP
I will decide by this weekend, I'll probabbly go with the transom mount, I like the water temp/speed idea and the hole in the people tank doesn't really bother me.

Hi - I had a transducer fitted to the transom of my 2400 SC3 a couple of weeks ago.

Had no problems with readings - works really well.

Sorry for late response - wasn't being discourteous - just been away snooping 8)

No, my 2400 SC3 is single drive 350 Magnum with Bravo III.

I should have read your post properly and, in fact, my contribution was completely and utterly feeble and pointless ops:

Still like the transom mount though
