Default Anchor motor not working.. how to fix?

Hi,

I have a Maxum 2900 SE from 2005 and my anchor does not work anymore. It did last year, but now it is completely dead. I have a motor on the anchor with up and down control buttons at the cockpit and right next to the anchor at bow. Tried to check the switches at the cockpit but there is none for the anchor. Tried to look at the cables connected at the anchor room but all look okay, no cables disconnected or anything. I am no expert on these things, so wanted to ask if anyone can point me in the right direction in terms of a list what to check before I need to ask boat service to assist at the end.

Cheers,
Martin

The windlass should have a breaker near the battery switch. If that not tripped you’ll need to break out the voltmeter to see if power is getting to the motor when the switch is on. No power work backwards to find the issue, got power the motor is bad.

Depending on the model, some of these windlass motors are not serviceable. (At least my Lewmar windlass wasn't). Was it slowing down before it stopped?

There should be a large breaker close to the battery. use a voltmeter to check continuity.

I had this issue and it was simply the windlass breaker tripped (location as previously mentioned, close to the battery) . The second time I really looked and found a loose contact on the battery. Hope you issue is as simple.
