Default A/C issues after work

Hello all!

I have a 2004 Maxum 2400 scr. Yesterday I changed the impeller and gas filter. Also, I ran through a couple cycles of water as I was getting a red tint from the antifreeze at both the sink in the cabin and the one in the head. When I initially got out there, at about 2pm, I turned on the A/C and the cabin cooled to 65 degrees within an hour. Later on, after running the boat for a little while, I turned the A/C back on and was unable to get the temp in the cabin below 75. I noticed that not much air was coming out of the vents. I refilled the water tank and nothing changed. Any idea what I may have done/am doing wrong?

Thank you!!

Could be a little low on Freon and froze up.

Run it again, and see if there is ice growing on the unit.

Your boat is in the water right? These ac units raw water to cool the condenser. Your water tank has nothing to do with the AC.

Thank you for the help. Any advice or past thread you know of that speaks about how to charge the freon?

It is R22, you will need a licensed ac tech.

See my edits above. Your boat is in the water, right?

Oh, Yes, it's in the water. Where should I be looking for the ice buildup?

On the unit itself. Not sure where yours is, mine is under the forward berth. It will be all over the evaporator, usually starts from the bottom and works up. Might take an hour or two to build up.

Ok. I will run it tomorrow and see if I can locate the unit. I'll check the manual and see if I can find it.

Even before ice builds up, there should be water droplets on the little tubes after its been running for a bit. That's normal.

If they look dry, touch them... Carefully. One will be cold, one will be very hot. If your finger sorta sticks a bit to the cold one, like when grab an ice cube out of freezer, it's probably running below freezing, meaning its low on Freon.

The A/C is running on shore power?

Did you Check to verify the power cord is properly plugged in and not loose causing low voltage. Else what Kevlar7 said.

No, I have not checked the power cord. I guess I had assumed it was plugged in properly, but I will check it out today when I get out there.

Thank you!

Change the A/C foam filter yearly.

make sure you are getting water flowing out of your through hull fitting. If not loosen the screws on the ac water pump which is located in the engine bay. Let it run and loosen the screws to let any air out. Also clean the screen.
Once in a while I have to bleed some air our of mine.
as noted here.. check for the unit freezing which usually indicated low R22.

Turned on the A/C today and it worked like new! I'm unsure what may have gone wrong, yesterday, but today it's good as new!

Thank you all for the insight. If I have any further issues, I will run through this checklist
