Default 1992 2300 SCR - Interior speaker grill removal?

Howdy all,

The forward port speaker inside my 2300 SCR isn't working so I tried to remove the upholstered speaker grill and can't figure it out.
I hoped they were held in with clips but I'm afraid to break the housing.
Does anyone have a clue how to remove these grills?

Thanks

Mark

Mark welcome aboard. My grills snap onto the speaker. Mine were old, brittle, and cracking so I replaced with new speakers.

Thanks Mike,
Glad to be here.
Are you referring to the cockpit speakers or the below deck speakers toward the bow above the vee berth?
I'm looking for info on the below decks speaker grilles.
Love this boat. Perfect size and layout for us.
You too, I presume.
Cheers

Mark I am refering to both the cabin and deck speakers.

I popped off what was left (the snap feature is built into the grill) of the grills then remove the screws holding the speakers in so I could install new speakers. My new speakers have the grill integral so the screws are seen from the outside.

OK
Thanks Mike.
I'll give mine a tug today and see if they yield.

Is this what you have below decks?
They really resist removal and I don't want to break anything.

Thanks for your assistance.

No mine are just round speakers. If you look inside the anchor locker can you see the speakers and if there are screws or nuts that will allow you to remove them?

Unusual for a speaker to simply stop working. I would first check the wiring at the back of the head unit. There is probably a large, multi-wire connector - un-plug it and then plug it back in, maybe 3 or 4 times. Might do the trick, does on mine.

OK
It's a solid bulkhead between the spkr & anchor locker.
There is a gap at the top which I might seal if I keep this boat.
What year/model do you have?

I have a 1997 2400SCR. Where you mirror is in the center mine flips up to gain access to the anchor locker.

Mine too.
Bayliner woulda had open backs to the speakers so the wet anchor rode could damage the speaker and soak through to the interior, etc....
I guess Maxum is (just) a cut above.
I did replace the florescent fixture with 12 VDC LED under counter light from Ikea.

Cheers
