Default Just bought a good looking 2005 2000 sr3

Anything problems with this model would be nice know. This is my first Maxum boat and would love to get some basic information from someone who has owned these boats.

OK 5.0L is a bullet proof engine . I imagine you have the multi-port fuel injection. Easy starts, better mpg and and a little more horsepower! Stick with mercury oil 25w 40.

What out drive do you have? Alpha or Bravo? Need to know when changing out your water pump.

So maintence.... what has been done? I'd look at everything that is rubber. Serpentine belt to hoses to your bellows if they need to be changed. You are getting more than 10 years on all your original equipment where hours don't mean anything .

Really just basic stuff!

Good luck

Roger

Thanks Roger!

I don't know what out drive I have yet. But I'm a mission to find out everything about the boat. I had the dealer put in a new blower and bilge pump. I will change all the belts and hoses when I get it this week. I have contacted the company website for a complete manual.

Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

Welcome aboard. The Engine and Outdrive are Mercruiser. In the case of Brunswick boats (Maxum, Bayliner, Searay, etc) they use Mercury/Mercruiser engines, drives and outboards because they happen to own them as well. Otherwise, the boat manufacturer makes the hull and the deck and assembles them, while everything else is third party. This is the case with ALL boats. You are more than likely actually looking for the Engine and Outdrive Service Manual, which is sold seperately. Information like maintenance is not in the boat manual, its in the engine and outdrive/outboard service manuals.

As a result, the boat manual has limited information. Try a search on MANUALS here on the site. We have a space where many are posted.
