Default Homegrown: New owner 2004 2100SD

Hello all:
I've always enjoyed the online community of owners for cars and now hoping to learn and contribute to this forum too.

2100SD. Wow...its a big boat. Always interested in advice from current and former owners.

Everything looks great on my new purchase with the exception of the cockpit cover; torn to shreds. Hull and motor are clean as can be, so I expect to enjoy many a summer with the kids on this. However, twin 5 year olds instructed 'toilet' is not open for business...it's just for show.

My 2100sd has the pump out ports pot.. My 6 and 4 year old nephews like using
It. It is a plus for them... And for their mom. ��
I love my boat. It is great to be used by a boatload of folks!

That almost got me in trouble once. I was emailing a guy to get quotes for him to come and work on my dOck.

Well, my first season has come to a close. I've read everything I can about winterization...we will see how I did come spring.

One thing that almost got me is the fogging. I was about to fog with spray when I read the 5.0 MPI requires running with a stabilized fuel and oil mixture. Close call, I've heard about cars with hydrolock.

Have a good fall fellow Maxum owners.

Using fogging oil spray will not hydro lock the engine. The reason to use the stabilizer/oil mix is to coat the fuel system including the injectors. Also coats the cylinders.

Thanks for response. I never know what to believe and didnt want to risk it. Watching YouTube videos of people pouring Marvel Oil down the throttle body made it easy to imagine a hydrolock scenario!

I have seen folks with fuel injection use a portable gas can with a gas/oil/stabilizer mixture. They disconnect the fuel line from the tank and hook it to the portable tank. Then run on that to run the mixture through the fuel system and intern fog the engine.

Yes, sir. Exactly what I did.

I bought all these sizes of brass fuel fittings, hose, connectors, etc...then realized I could just pull the hose off the existing barb, attached 3' of NAPA fuel line into a 3 gal of mix. Ran 5-10 minutes and called it a day. (RV antifreeze drama edited out)

We should make a DIY sticky page
