has anyone replaced their interior and courtesy lights with all LED? i know they draw significantly less amps.just wondering if anyone has tackled this DIY project yet.

I've always wanted to do the same, but could never figure out what lamp replaces what bulb, etc... I especially want to do it for the anchor light/masthead when we're on the hook or a buoy all night as I fear leaving it on for 8+ hours will run my battery down too much. Also the outside radar arch lights would be nice to replace and the mid-cabin reading lights.

@ $10-$15 each, how can you be sure you're ordering the correct replacement?

I got mine at canada tire for the interior cabin and bat cave.It was the whole light not just the bulb.

Yes. I replaced all 34 ceiling (G4B-CWHP10-DAC cool white), 12 courtesy (WLED-NW5 natural white), 11 engine gauges (WLED-NW5 natural white) and 1 water tank level (WLED-NW5 red) gauge lights with LEDS.

I bought a couple cool white and a couple warm white to test. We went with the cool white. We prefer the white/blue tint over the yellow tint of the warm white. I also find it easier to read with the whiter light. The main cabin is on 3 switches, the bath on 2, the forward birth on 2 and the rear birth on 2 so we can adjust the amount of light for any given need. The courtesy lights are in the cockpit, swim platform and bow pulpit and are controlled by 3 switches.

I also have a 3 mile LED mast light (nav/anchor), 2 mile stern light and 2 mile reg/green nab lights. We have red LED rope light around the entire perimeter of the back enclosure and also behind the Maxum logo shield on the sides of the boat. Several boats have blue rope lights but so far we are the only ones with red. I chose red as it does't affect your night vision as much as the other colors.

I dunno David, the intake lights are kinda freakin me out a little. The red glow sorta makes it look like something's on fire.

I think they look cool, too... looks like another Spring project to me! But I think I'll go for the blue color. Looks like a pretty simple project to me, as the vents are accessable from inside the engine compartment. Gonna look pretty sharp to have this AND the new underwater lights on!

I frequent several boats with blue & green rope light and they usually turn them off when they cruise on a busy night as it really screws with their night vision. I did not run the rope light around the front side of the arch so I don't have any light glaring in my eyes while manning the helm. Also, I have always heard, and read here lately, that insects are not so much attracted to red but they are to blue. All of our courtesy lights in the cockpit, swim platform and bow pulpit are cool white LED's and during the peek insect time of the year they will attract 1000's of insects if left on. On the other hand I can leave the red lights on all night and don't attract any insects. Even when the super bright LED mast light has 1000 of little fluting things non migrate down under the top where the red light it. It works for us. And as I said before. No one else around here has red. Our friends can spot us out a mile away.
