Thread: Stereo project

    Default Stereo project

I had a few hours of extra time so I decided to upgrade the stereo system, new head unit, 8 new speakers, 2 subs, 2 amps and 2 more batteries, total of 4.

1st project was to get some music up on the sun pad since that was the biggest complaint from the passengers not being able to hear, especailly when under way.

I decided to save a little money and make my own speaker cans. I used 6" PVC caps and made circles to fit inside to attach the speakers to. Speaker connections from the Shack and SS u-bolts from the Depot.

Next was installing speaker in the top off the radar arch and ran into a problem with the arch not being deep enough. My solution was taking a 6" PVC coupling and ripping it with a table saw to make spacers so I could mount the speakers. Painted them to match the boat and it worked out great.

WOW.... another audiophile, LOVE it! NICE WORK! Did you cap the 6.5 to let the subs to the bass work or running everything full range? Looks great, thanks for sharing!

Not capped, 1 amp runs the subs on low pass set @ about 75%, the other amp runs the 8 6.5's on full set @ about 75%
Sub amp is bridged and running 880 watts @ 2 ohms. The other amp is 4 channel x 100 @ 4 ohms. I have it set front channels with four speakers and rear four speakers if I ever need to fade the sunpad down.
