I just called mercruiser customer service from their web site and read the number to them, and they told me that my long block has been replaced, and when it was. The SSN stay with the engine, not the block. They where happy to help.

I just bought this eng from a young man that wanted to put in a bigger engine in his boat. (I guess size matters...LOL). Only paid $500.00 and it runs very smooth. With a 4 day weekend for me this week. I plan on giving it a good cleaning at the car wash and then hope to get it swapped out Thursday and Friday. "Maybe" get her out for a test Sunday... I'll post some picks as we go along

nice, you sound like an engine guy,

have you every replaced the rubber engine coupler on the back of the fly wheel? this is what the out drive shaft goes into the engine flywheel?

do you know if you can install it without pulling the engine, or maybe thru the bellows for access.
