Ok so on my 1800sr3 I/O the engine noise is a tad too much so I was thinking of using spray adhesive and stick this stuff called "Linacoustic RC" under the doghouse...anyone with any knowledge of doing theirs think this is a bad idea....looks like it has a 250 degree temp rating...anyone see a problem with this?????

if you have a local chandlery around or a hardware store...I'd look for those sheets of insulation that have the silver tape on the opposite side...a bit spendy but the silver will reflect some of the heat away from the fiberglass and will help reduce noise also....

you know i've looked at lots of different things to use but whatever it is it has to be non-ridged so I can form it around under the dog house...I've had some people tell me to use non-porous sheets of styrofome or whatever but geez I dont see how that ridged stuff would work since the doghouse is rounded inside there??? It seems you NEED something very flexable that you could spray adhesive on and stick it on....

yep..that's that insulation with the silver tape on one side....kinda like fiberglass matt with the silver reflector stuff....I've seen it at our local hardware store....so ..I know it's available.....the rigid stuff won't work......
if you just use the foam stuff...it will eventually degrade and become more of a mess....just my 2 braincells firing off there...

now i"ve looked at using that stuff BUT seems that the insulation part of that is layered together and if I glue that on hanging upside down in the doghouse seems that with bouncing around and over time those layers would peel apart and would then drop on the engine...Right??? seems the only way to put that stuff on and make it work woud be to screw it up in there with washers..Don't really want to do a bunch of screws...

You shouldn't need to screw it into place. You should be using this:

That product (see link above) is a complete kit and includes the fastening hardware. Here is the fastening hardware along. I've included the link so you get a better idea of how it works:

The fastener is attached to a flat, perforated plate. This should be attached to the hard surface (bulkhead, hatch, etc) with adhesive. The pin is already attached to the plate. The pin punches through the insulation material, then the washer and cap are used like a nut to hold the insulation in place on the pin and protect you from any sharp points. There should be NO screwing into fiberglass needed. This is the way the boat manufacuturers install and it should work fine.
