Purchasing an 88 maxum, have some questions

Hey everyone, new here (obviously) and I have some questions I'll try to keep concise...I have found almost 0 supporting information on the internet.

This boat I'm looking at buying is going to come with a freshly built '88 125 force OB (built by the owner, an OB mechanic.) Are there any misc parts outside of the engine that are known to fail on these?

There is a patch of rot in the center of the deck, inbetween the mid-seats and the rear seats, but everywhere else the wood feels solid. Would it be reasonably to say that I could rip up the carpet, replace that section, and leave the rest as-is? Im hoping the stringer underneath is still good, or if it is not then I can just replace a section?

And that brings me to the carpet! Where the heck can I get matching color?? I can't seem to find the same red anywhere and I don't want to recarpet the rest of the boat as it's in decent shape. Also, any tips on cleaning the carpet thats existing?

Otherwise, there are a few scrapes and dings around outside of the hull and some of the edges, and the paint is oxidized.. but nothing too terrible. The vinyl inside is in remarkably good shape, a little cleaning and it will look close to new!

welcome to the zoo....2nd concerning rot...I'd get hold of a moisture tester...and then check all over the decking...I'd be willing to be that there is more damage to rot on more decking......which will require almost of the decking to replace....some wet sanding and buffing would be required for the hull.....

I would stay away from a boat that has a soft floor. Simply not worth it IMO. There are plenty of boats with no soft floors. unless the boat is simply DIRT cheap. I replaced a floor ona Glastron with a buddy ( his boat) Swore I will never do that again.
