well...this being our first time that maxums got together out here...I have to say it was a success.....only 2 other maxums and our maxliner got together at a small marina in the Kitsap pennisula...well protected and the service from the dock crew was outstanding.
the wife and I got off friday and after work thursday evening..ran to a spot where we could look out below Whidbey island and check the water conditions....it was awesomely flat and smooth...not a ripple to be found...so..the wife (still reeling from the insane water we got caught in a few months ago) said...lets go..
So we raced home and got the food and gear together, dogs leashed up and loaded everything into the truck for the race to the marina..tossed it all onto the boat and then got the forklift to drop us into the water...
once underway we noticed the water was getting a bit lumpy...now that's how fast the sound can change!!..amazing..
we got to the spot where we had looked earlier only to find 2-3 ft waves and winds coming straight from the south...so...the wife still not all that comfortable, (and I gave her the option of what to do) said..lets make way for Kingston...which was straight into the wind/waves...
we had a nice nite at kingston and then went to bed...we got up early in the morning on friday and headed out for Port Ludlow...north and on the opposite side of the Hood canal.....
that early in the morning was rather surprisingly lumpy but nothing big...we pressed on and made Port Ludlow within a half hr...
got docked and powered the boat and waited for the others to show up....
when we were helping Jim Douglas (aka Nimh), I realized I'd forgotten our digital camera in our haste to get to the boat....so, Jim showed up Second and we helped him and his bride dock the boat...
Jim and I are marina mates and know each other from the site....once all the introductions of the brides were finished, we tried to find a place to eat..which to our surprise, the restaruant that we knew of was closed...so..instead we ordered a huge pizza to be delivered.....turned out it was pretty awesome pizza...
just as we were enjoying the pizza......Rich Greenwell and his boating crew showed up....more introductions were made and we offered pizza to them for dinner since they showed up so late......believe me...we had plenty of pizza..
next morning we all got up..had breakfast and then made a walk to town for some sort of lame art festival....not to put the town down but the art festival was terrible....
back to the boat ..naps and then later taht evening we decided to have a potluck dinner on our boat....
got the blender fired up..had a few magarita's and long island Iced teas.....finally waaay after dark..crashed in bed...
now it seems out here we have some of the most rude and idiotic blow boaters ( aka sailboaters) on the planet....
when we were in kingston and approaching the dock..on the opposite side of the finger pier we were backing into ...this blow boater and his wife were there...took one look at us and gave us the cold shoulder and didn't help us dock in windy conditions..(see if I help them ever)......
then while at Port Ludlow we watched 2 other blow boaters ram the dock ...why not..they were already at ramming speed, why not ram the friggin dock!!...then this morning as we were sleeping ...one of the same idiotic blow boaters that rammed the dock...hit us...no damage to my boat as far as I can see..but still ..the idiot left and didn't say a word....I'll be calling the marina to complain tomorrow......
all in all..I got to meet up with rich and his lovely family, Jim and his wife, who was a real crackup all weekend....all of them are delightful and fun to boat with...
they took ton's of photo's so hopefully they will post some...it was fun....
hopefully more people will have rondezvous and post them.....
