Fredericksburg, Virginia (US for our non-US members).

20 minute drive to the nearest Potomac River launch. On the Potomac you can drive right into DC passing Mount Vernon on the way, see the memorials and stop and have dinner in Georgetown. There are quite a few restaurants on the water from the very casual to fine dinning. The Potomac dumps into the Chesapeake Bay where you can haul on up to Annapolis/Baltimore or head on out to the Atlantic and down to FL if you have the boat for it.

20 minute drive to Lake Anna, our regular play ground. 13,000 acres, 18 miles long. Dozens of out of the way coves to anchor in and small islands with sand beaches to beach your boat. These are highly sought after on the weekend and the early birds will grab the prime beaches and stay all day, setting up tables and grills and just partying! My wife calls Lake Anna our big swimming pool.

5 minutes to the Rappahannock River. Out little 'burg was founded on this river over 300 years ago. It parallels the Potomac and dumps into the Chesapeake Bay just South of it. The public launch downtown is directly across from George Washington's boyhood home where some historians believe that if Washington actually threw a silver dollar across a river, it was probably the Rappahannock, not the Potomac as he grew up on the Rapp and it's only about 50 yards across. It snakes and widens down to the bay where it's about a mile or more wide. Too many floating logs and solid tree stumps for my kind of boating. Mostly guys fishing on it although PWC's like to race up and down it too.

Where do you put in?

Seapuppy and I might be the only "Left Coasters" Here.

Live in Lake Stevens right out side Everett. Boat the Puget Sound on our 33' kept at the Port of Everett - Some would say It's a barge and doesn't leave the dock, but we have over 2300 hrs on it so we must be going some where

Our Maxum spends the summers at our dock on Lake Chelan. Its a 55 mile long DEEP lake in eastern WA. There are camp sites starting about 30 miles going up lake that can only be reached by boat with nice docks. Cells don't work up there and you can get away from the world and just relax.

Well, how's this for distance? I live in a town called Lilydale. It's 38km east of Melbourne, Victoria Australia....yes AUSTRALIA. My boat is a 1994-model Maxum 2700SCR called Aquabat II. I didn't name her that...she's imported from Wellesley, Massachusetts, USA. She's now berthed at a marina at Loch Sport, part of the Gippsland Lakes in the southern state of Victoria.

That's lots of Googling for any of you guys looking up where that is!!!

We are from up north of racer2c just south of Mount Vernon as described.
If you look closely at the mansion in the picture at
sempreveloce.tripod.com/

you will see that it is Mount Vernon. From that point it's about 15 minutes to Alexandria, and another 10 into the District.

We keep our boat in the Occaquan State park (Very reasonable rates for storage - fee includes launches) and can be down to Fredricksburg in about 40 minutes or up in Georgetown in about the same amount of time.

Well chappymonster... I can (just) beat you (on distance at least - not the boat) - I'm in Perth, Western Australia. Unfortunately I only have a 1989 5.9 mtr - still trying to find out all the details about this little beast - so it is either a 1900 or 2000 series although they may not have used that naming convention back in the dark ages when mine was built...

Thanks! I'll keep you guys in mind. For my last big outing this season I launched at the Everett Marina boat launch and headed up to La Conner. Spent the night there in a hotel (we were actually attending a wedding in La Conner that evening). The next day we took the bride and groom out to Friday Harbor for lunch, then back to La Conner to drop them off and back to Everett. It was a fun trip for my first time in salt water with my new boat.

It was especially sweet to open up the throttles and do 50mph for most of the trip between La Conner and Everett.

I've got a ton of boat projects scheduled for this winter to get me ready for spring. (Dual batteries, VHF radio and Wake board tower, plus mounting additional safety gear onboard). I plan on spending a lot of time out of the Everett Marina since it's only about 45 minutes from where I live, it's huge, it allows overnight parking, and it's right on the puget sound at the prime spot for dungeness crabbing, salmon fishing, and we want to hit Victoria, BC this next year as well.

I picked "submariner" as a moniker as I spent 8 years in the Navy stationed on Submarines out of Bangor, WA. I've spent quite a bit of time both on and under the Straits of Juan De Fuca.

Well hello Sub, nice to see another PNWer on the site!
As SP mentioned keep an eye out for our boats during the summer season. SP and his admiral are on the POE guess dock often and our boat is on A dock right behind the guess dock.
Also if you go to the boat show The POE booth have free 1-day moorage coupons, grab a bunch while you are there!

I spent 17 yrs designing subs thru mare island navshpyd and finally at Newport news shpbldg and DD co.......last boat was SSN21.....one other boat you may know of was the Parche...was involved in the ocean engineering part of that boat........

keep an eye out for our boat....we're all yr long boaters....(can't tell that now cuz of all the rain. .)....but we are..... :?

Ken's boat is really nice...and like he said...alot of times we can be seen at the guest docks at POE.....hope to see you there.....

I can't wait until the upcoming boat show in January. I'll be sure to grab a handful of 1 day moorage coupons. Where do you boat during the cold and wet season? I've got my boat "laid up" technically, as I've had it winterized. But that doesn't mean much as I've got the 260hp MPI motor. There's 1 blue valve and two pet cocks to open which drain the entire engine block to the bilge. So I could take the boat out anyway. I'm considering watching new years eve fireworks from the boat, depending on the weather. The main problem I see right now with boating is sea-state. Especially with the wind ripping through like it has all this week.

it's really great boating here even in the winter...we boat all yr long (cept when it's like it's been the past month.....damn I'm dying to get out there)......
I store my boat at dagmars landing ..keep a few heaters going and also drain everything...all the lines and tanks get drained out....since you have a little bitty boat....it's easy..just flush the motor thru the outdrive and then drain everything....we only winterize if we feel we're not going to boat for more than a few months....but I like to go just about anywhere, time alotting......

Sub - SP and I have an advantage over your boat in the winter - Enclosed and diesel furnace/heaters.
SP and I boat all year; thought SP has called our boat a barge during the winter months.
In fact last Sat wasn’t raining so we went down for the day; we like to think of our boat as our condo on the water.
Our little boat stays up in Lake Chelan wrapped up until about May.

When the sea state is a mess - we don't go out. Just not much fun busting swells for a couple of hours, not to mention the danger!

sometimes if we just have a weekend...we just stay at everett marina.....your boat is too small for me to think of going out into the sj's for a weekend with it....water changes too fast and too much for me....but good on ya if your enjoying it.....it's a good boat.... :D

Franco_2100SC
11-17-2006, 10:41 AM
I have a 2100SC see:

http://sempreveloce.tripod.com/

And I dug into it in such detail, that I earned a Master Mariner title from another web site..(Its in the link above)

I must say that over the 4 seasons it has been a good platform, its kind of an Inspector gadget boat in that one son wants to fish, the older boy is the daredevil - make it go fast and I'll skii - Mom just wants to sit in the back chatting with girlfriends sipping Pina Coladas.. and Dad likes to explore and do all the above...

I do not like the fact that design deficiencies are never corrected or addressed in subsequent year releases and some of the materials used have not held up well.. I have seat cushions for instance that are splitting, and the boat is not abused... Now perhaps any manufacturer would have the same, guess I'll have to see. My particular boat really should come with tabs installed, another area where Maxum is falling behind... when I installed them on the 2100SC it made a very positive and beneficial change to the boat handling and ride See http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thre ... 9#M1158689 (http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=115188&posts=9#M1158689)

:) Hi to all.

I just got off the Bayliner website ( trying to clean my garage out of my 1993 Bayliner 2655 parts that I had lying around) and thought I would say hi to everyone at the Maxum site. My wife and I just purchased a 2001 Maxum 3000 SCR. The sea trial which was out of St Joesph MI went great.First time on Lake Michigan. The surveyor pasted everything with flying colors. Now I have to wait for my friend to put his boat in the water so I can use his trailer and my other friend to use his big truck. This all will happen in April.

Oh where am I from? Peoria Illinois. we boat on the Illinois River and have a slip at Detweiler Marina so if you are in the neighborhood give me a yell on 16 for Bigger Sea Gar!

Just got back from Seattle today where I signed the papers on a 2001 2900 SCR! We're tickled pink .. and delighted at the cross-border advantages (ahem .. currency exchange).

Our last boat was a 2000 Bayliner 1952 cuddy .. and we cruised the heck out of it in the local islands for 7 years. Hoping to get further afield in the Maxum with its greater range and amenities. Ten footitis itch getting scratched, for sure.

Hey Seapuppy. I think we might have met at the Lopez Rendezvous back in 02(?)!

This boat has the 7.4 single. Kinda wanted twins and a U-lounge in bow, and went down thinking to buy a 28 Chaparral, but that boat was rough. The Maxum is super clean and a fantastic price - really like the huge cockpit. Boat is very basic but has a heat pump for a/c in summer and 2nd heat source in winter. Getting surveyed on Wed, but the sea trial yesterday was great.

We live in Northern Virginia. Do our boating on the Potomac River and occasionally the Chesapeake Bay. Unfortunately this has been a worse than normal maintenance year. Major overhaul of the outdrive (gymbal bearing, U-joints, bellows, shift cable, seals, etc) and new starter kept us off the water for over a month (we also got the new Mercathode System installed) and then two weeks ago our alternator went out. I think we're back in seaworthy condition now (knock on wood). The down time did give us the incentive to "fix up" a few non-power related issues - resealed the weatherstripping around the cabin door, put in a new shower sump pump (if you put them in backwards the first time you get a great looking bubbler effect in the shower  ), and got the A/C unit (cruiseair) recharged.

Also enjoy as much spare time as possible on the water, too bad we have a long winter here, on the positive side we have been having a great spring 20 degrees c here today and I took the winter cover off the boat.

We live in Delta, British Columbia. It's 20 minutes south of Vancouver.
We do most of our boating on the Fraser River but we head inland to Osoyoos Lake for a couple of weeks every summer. Osoyoos is a "pocket desert" region (Canada's only desert). Beautiful country....very hot in the summer!

We have a 2006 Maxum 1900 SR3 with a wakeboard tower, 5.0 litre MPI Mercruiser.

I guess I never replied to this one:

I live in Nashua, NH however the boat lives in New London, Ct. I have about a 2hr commute to the Marina. I live a bit inland and would still have a 1 hr commute if I boated in NewHampshire, instead of Ct. People ask me why I travel so far. The answer is simple. The boating is better in the Long Island sound/Block Island sound area.

Anyone boating in Eastern LI Sound/Block Island sound give me a shout out. Maybe we can get a 'Maxum Owners Club' rendevous going.
