Helm/radar bridge Lighting on 1998 2800

Hi All,

I am new to Maxum's. I have a 98 2800 SCR and I cannot get the Lighting on the radar bridge nor the step lighting to work. I tried new bulbs, no luck. The fuses all seem okay. The interior light work, the stereo, vhf, trim tabs etc all work fine, but I can't get the lights to work. Is there a switch or something that I am overlooking?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the zoo....there should be a switch on the dash that is marked cockpit....that usually controls the cockpit lights and lights on the arch....also look down at the dc breaker panel for a sympbol that looks like lights or a lightbulb and see if the red pin is out....that's about all there is too it....you may need to try and find the ground block and see if there is any corrosion...

There is no labeled switch on the dash for the Cabin lights. I wish there were! As far as the DC Panel, what do you mean by red pin? The dc panel is for the shore power panel correct? or are you referring to the panel under the dash? If there is corrosion, on the fuse block, what's the best way to clean or deal with it otherwise? Have you ever used lithium grease to improve connectivity?

Maybe these will help. In the middle row of switches, the one on the far right is marked "CRTSY LIGHTS".

Ok, I know nothing about boats with refrigerators or microwaves. But I thought the pictures were kind of neat.

as Tglee has shown...the dash is marked as such...however...to answer your question....yes...sometimes teflon grease is used to help prevent corrosion...but it won't stop it if it's already started....it has to be cleaned and then the teflon grease added....don't use lithium grease......use teflon...

as for the lights..all the ships lights are on the DC system...ie 12 volt batteries.......all the gauges...house lights...etc are on this system
120vac is for the things like batt. charger...120vac microwave...fridge...ac/heat....stove...etc.....that's your shore pwr......


the pin I'm talking about is on your 12vdc breaker system usually under the steering wheel on the dash at your knees when you stand at the helm.....check that breaker panel to see if something is pushed out...they usually have a plastic flexible bubble cover over each breaker.......

thanks sp. turned out the connector posts on the switch had some corrosion. moved the wires to an open accessory switch and everything lit up:)

well..that worked.......now clean all of the other connectors and use some teflon grease to keep the corrosion down...
