Maxum Trailer?

I'm showing the 2006 Maxum brochure to our guests yesterday and noticed this little nugget: "All Maxum boats come with a color matching trailer".

Hey! Mine didn't and the sales guy never even mentioned that a painted Maxum trailer was an option. :evil:

I have a galvanized trailer. It has a swing away tongue and surge breaks but it's not nearly as atractive as a matching Sunset Red with a big Maxum label.

I'm guessing you need to order your boat with the painted trailer.

Believe it or not it appears you have the better trailer.

Galvanising is more expensive than painting and makes for a far longer lasting and more resiliant trailer. Your dealer has done you a favour

I do and always will run with galvanised just cos its a better option for me, though some do prefer aesthetics over function.

Though, yeah painting looks nicer :wink:

Sorry Anthony came with the boat and it needs a tandem axel. The painted trailer has NO rust what so ever. We only have this boat in fresh water so I'm sure that helps a lot.

You can take the weight rating from Maxum (4,648 lbs with standard engine) and throw it out the window! I drove our's across a truck scale, over 6000 lbs :shock: with less then 20 gallons(160lbs) of gas and no other gear on board! Our engine/out drive upgrade can't be that much more.

Tread with caution.

Unless you do alot of miles (Regular long trips over 1.5 hours etc..) you really will be wasting money.

Tandems tow a lot better for short trips it just isn't worth it. plus maneuverability goes out the window.. right now you should be able to push your boat round practically on your own... with a tandem it ain't going no where without 2 guys pushing it straight.. or if you want to turn it you'll need to hook it up to the tow vehicle.

If you do need a trailer then it would probably be best to buy from an aftermarket supplier. such as pacific, ultimate etc...

Brit does bring up some good points.
The only reason to have tandem axles is to spread the load across two axles on heavy boats. Also helps slowing down that 6000lbs behind you with 4 sets breaks.
